An eclipse is an unusual phenomenon to our daily life.  It can definitely have some harmful effects on our body. So here we will talk about some precautions which should be taken during a solar eclipse and a lunar eclipse.

Solar eclipse

The solar eclipse is a treat to watch the view of nature and is a rare thing to happen. It can have some adverse effects on the eyes of a person watching it. It is because of the harmful radiations radiating through the sun during the time of a solar eclipse. So people should take some precautions for their eyes to enjoy the view of a solar eclipse as well as avoid danger to their eyes.

  • Before looking into the bright sun during the time of a solar eclipse, we should wear their eclipse glasses or solar viewer. We should remove the glasses after turning away from the sun.
  • Always read the instructions on the eclipse glasses packaging, if written. If there is any scratch or the lenses are damaged, don’t use them.
  • Children should watch the solar eclipse under the instructions of an adult
  • A solar eclipse should not be seen through an optical device like a camera, telescope, binoculars, etc. during the use of eclipse glasses as the concentrated rays of the sun are able to damage the solar glasses. It can result in the light entering your eyes which can ultimately lead into an eye injury.
  • It will be excellent to have an expert device from an astronomer before going to watch a solar eclipse

Lunar eclipse

When the sun, earth and the moon come on the same line, the earth’s shadow falls on the moon result into the lunar eclipse. Several myths are associated with this phenomenon of nature from thousands of years. Science has rejected many superstitions about the lunar eclipse. Though the lunar eclipse can be seen through the naked eyes as it doesn’t harm the eyes, still some precautions should be taken during a lunar eclipse.

  • Tidal effect- According to this theory on the full moon day, we can see high tides in the ocean because of the gravitational force of the moon pulling the water from the sea. As our body also consists of 70 percent of fluid, the same effect can be seen in us. The effect can be a bit more on the time of lunar eclipse coinciding with a blue moon and a supermoon resulting into a spike in the blood pressure. So stay in your home if you are dealing with blood pressure issues.
  • Sleep disturbance- Lunar eclipse can significantly affect the sleep pattern of the human body if not taken care of. It is because of the increased presence of light outside.
  • According to a study in America, a lunar eclipse has a significant effect on the reproductive system of humans. It can have a severe impact on pregnant women. That’s why it is advised to be in the house if you are pregnant women.
